Food studies

The Year 11 pupils follow the Jamie Oliver Home Cooking Skills level 2 course. This is the equivalent of ½ a GCSE. The course incorporates both practical and theory work. The practical units include: mince, fruit, pasta, baking, puddings, stir fries and soups. The theory work includes: food hygiene, economising when purchasing ingredients, altering recipes to suit tastes/diets and nutritional information. The final practical coursework involves planning, preparing, cooking and serving a 2-course meal for a member of staff.
