Ethos: At Moorhey, Art and Design provides students with opportunities to explore their creative imaginations and learn about working with a range of materials and equipment. Pupils collaborate and exchange ideas to improve outcomes and are encouraged to share resources and respect their work environment.
Curriculum: Design Technology at Moorhey is offered to all Key Stage 3 pupils. Year 7, 8 and 9 allocation is for one double lesson per week taught in tutor groups. In Year 9 pupils go to Runshaw college to do a number of projects, taught by Runshaw College staff using their specialist facilities.
In Key Stage 2 pupils have one Design Technology lesson a week but this alternates each half term with art.
Environment: Room 8 is a designated art classroom with facilities and space to enable a range of learning activities and for display of student work. We have a state of the art, recently refurbished food studies room.
